Rumination and quality of life among Northern Plains Indians.

Therapeutic mechanisms targeting multiple mental health disorders are key for providing treatment services with high-disparity, low-resource populations. Rumination, a cognitive response style, is well-recognized transdiagnostic factor across in the general population (Arditte et al., 2016; Nolen-Hoeksema, 1991). This study explored influence of rumination, and mediational effect disorder, on Quality Life among sample 585 Northern Plains Indian (NPI) women men. Using secondary data from Mood Disorder Assessment Validation study, parallel mediation path analyses indicated rumination did not have direct quality life. However, higher anxiety (R² = .38, p < .001), depression .60, substance use symptoms .14, .001). As increased, significant increases occurred severity reported men all diagnoses- but lower perceived life only presence depressive (women, B -28.19, .001; men, -20.15, Significant differences arose between NPI reporting anxiety, use. Based these results, useful as NPIs, helped uncover maladaptive coping NPIs sample. In addition, assessments can help target by taking holistic view well-being that accounts risk factors while supporting traditional views healing.
